Apple iPad 3rd Gen

Stunning, higher-def-than-hi-def screen. The best app and AV stores. Superb interface. Impressive graphical chops.

The best tablet, now a little bit better - make sure you get enough storage for all that Retina-ready gear ...
Screen apart, no huge leap on from the iPad 2 (below) (-)

Apple iPad 2
Decent power and graphical oomph. Thin, light and now even cheaper, with iOS 5 and apps galore.
Slimmer and cheaper than the new iPad, this is still a mighty alluring tablet in its own right.
Rear camera is poor. New iPad is better (-)

SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB 10.1
Great looks. Very light. Powerful processor gives slick, fast operation and gaming. Stunning HD screen.
A top Android tab, but it's no iPad 2 beater and it lacks the raw power of the Transformer Prime.
Lacks tablet-optimised apps.
